It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted, but all in good reason. Not only have things been going very well, but the work has been coming in droves lately…
For a few months, I’ve been working with Alex Zavistovich and the Molotov Theatre to create an iPhone app as a fundraising initiative for the Theatre. Alex has been nothing short of professional and awesome throughout the whole experience. I’m not willing to disclose information about the project, as it is in the process of being approved by Apple. I think the app has a lot of potential for the Theatre and for Halloween (hint). I’m just hoping for approval
I’d really like to thank all of the following who have helped out with the project. Any type of help, small or large, has assisted in getting the app finished and ready for submission. Shout outs go to…
Without their assistance, the project would not have been possible.
Aside from iPhone development, I am proud to say that the Neil Berens Construction site is complete in terms of design. Aside from a few possible fixes, I anticipate on meeting with the client soon to add more content and to show them how to update the site on their own. Please keep checking back for more content and some of Neil’s latest work. The quality is really superb!
I have other projects, too… but those will be discussed in the future.
Until next time.
WOW, congratulations, Brett! Best of luck on the launch of the new app!
Thanks! Also… what a quick reply!

Brett, that’s awesome! You’ll have to fill me in later on (or at least let me know when it’s approved). I can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with.
The construction website looks really good. I really like the header (the roof line goes real well with the logo lines). Clean, simple, professional.
One thing I would suggest with regards to typography — try setting the paragraph line-height to 1.4-1.5em (with CSS). That is generally the perfect spacing between lines to keep the text flowing properly.
Anyway, just thought I’d say congratulations on both items!
Thanks, Eric! The typography was one of the areas in the design that I had my doubts with. I will definitely play around with the paragraph line-height per your suggestion.
Thanks again for the input!
wow welcome back im sure your super excited were can i find your updated posts?
They’re all on here.
I agree with Eric- the website is definitely clean simple and professional, some of the most important qualities in a site. All too often, people get carried away with the finer points of design, and devote too much time to large graphics and animation but I think you’ve achieved exactly the right balance. After all, if visitors can’t find what they are looking for on a site within the first few minutes of visiting, they are unlikely to persevere, no matter how impressive the site’s design. Simplicity really is key and makes for an altogether more enjoyable browsing experience.
You’ve made some very wonderful points, Ian. Simplicity does not in any way mean laziness. I’m the type of person who likes to see functionality first before complex design, just the way my mind works.
How is the iPhone application going? Do you have an update for us?
I have yet to do feature testing on it. Pretty much, I’ve cleaned up the selector and refactored other parts of the code for performance. For whatever reason, I keep putting that application on the side with everything else. It’s a great app, and the money supports a great theatre.
I’ll likely push out a big update for Halloween season. That’s for dang sure.
