North Central Wisconsin Red Cross North Central Wisconsin Red Cross Site Updates

This was a maintenance project for Tim Krause’s CNMT480 (previously WDMD480) course, which is a required capstone course for computing majors that involves working on real projects with real clients.

Others involved:

The site needed to be updated from Joomla 1.5.14 to the latest version.  Following that, updates needed to be made to the existing template to patch vulnerabilities.  To add additional security, the URL to the admin login has been changed.  To wrap up security updates, the group performed a security audit on the website to determine whether or not currently installed plugins, modules or components posed any threats.

On a side note, some restorations of database entries needed to be performed, as updating certain modules and plugins caused the workflow of the website to break.

No design or front end work was required for this website per Tim and the client’s request.

Documentation outlining the updates was given to the client.

The Slumber is Over

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted, but all in good reason.  Not only have things been going very well, but the work has been coming in droves lately…

For a few months, I’ve been working with Alex Zavistovich and the Molotov Theatre to create an iPhone app as a fundraising initiative for the Theatre.  Alex has been nothing short of professional and awesome throughout the whole experience. I’m not willing to disclose information about the project, as it is in the process of being approved by Apple. I think the app has a lot of potential for the Theatre and for Halloween (hint).  I’m just hoping for approval icon smile The Slumber is Over

I’d really like to thank all of the following who have helped out with the project.  Any type of help, small or large, has assisted in getting the app finished and ready for submission.  Shout outs go to…

Without their assistance, the project would not have been possible.

Aside from iPhone development, I am proud to say that the Neil Berens Construction site is complete in terms of design.  Aside from a few possible fixes, I anticipate on meeting with the client soon to add more content and to show them how to update the site on their own. Please keep checking back for more content and some of Neil’s latest work. The quality is really superb!

I have other projects, too… but those will be discussed in the future.

Until next time.

I was recently asked to put together a website for a friend who is looking to sell their house located in the Tomahawk, WI area.  The client wanted a simple site that gives a basic description of the house, as well as a photo gallery showing off the house and the land its located on.  Along with the gallery, I added a Google Maps widget that shows viewers where the location of the property in relation to Tomahawk, WI.  I’m really pleased with how the site turned out and hope the best for my client!

Feel free to check out the Tomahawk Home listing.

Vamos! A Hooligan’s Blog for DC United

Before I begin, I would like to inform everyone that I don’t know the first thing about soccer. That is all.

A friend of mine, Erik Cieslewicz, approached me the other night with a keen interest in starting up a blog on soccer, particularly DC United.  The blog is currently being hosted as a subdomain of this site, but will eventually be migrating to a domain of its own in the near future.

The blog is a WordPress powered site and, if writing keeps up, has the potential to really become something.  Check it out by clicking on the image below. icon smile Vamos! A Hooligan’s Blog for DC United
